ViiV VOICES: WHAT OUR MISSION MEANS TO ME
At ViiV Healthcare, we have a singular mission – to leave no person living with HIV behind.
Collectively, every employee at ViiV Healthcare is committed to improving access to medicines for people affected by HIV. Individually, each employee takes a different path in how we achieve that. Here, some of our employees share what our mission means to them and how they are bringing it to life.
For Matthew Petee, Director of Learning and Development, “HIV is the only thing we do, which creates a sense of determination and unity in the way we go about our work and the impact we can make in the community. There’s an incredible purpose in the work that we do, focus on the community and making sure that everything we do is guided by doing the right thing for patients.”
ViiV Healthcare is dedicated to treating, preventing and, hopefully one day, curing HIV. We know that a cure is essential to accomplishing our goal of ending the HIV epidemic. This pursuit drives our research and development efforts, particularly for underserved communities, including children. “To me, living our mission requires a team effort to bring our innovative products to patients in formulations that work best for them and ensure they are available to the most vulnerable populations,” says Sherene Min, MD, Vice President, Head of Clinical Development. “For example, developing an HIV medication for children as young as four weeks was a tremendous accomplishment, and it's pretty remarkable to see what we’re able to do when we work together.”
Kerri Baldwin, Territory Account Manager, takes ViiV’s mission to heart as she reflects on how her family was impacted by HIV.
Knowing that I can make a difference, I can change lives, I can help in the community was just everything for me,” Kerri shares. “Back in the late 80s…my aunt was diagnosed with HIV. I remember it as a kid, and I know how it made me feel. Knowing that I am in this role now, and I’m able to help with prevention, help to educate, help work with HCPs to help their patients not acquire HIV is everything to me. So, I will be here at ViiV for as long as ViiV will have me. Better yet, until we find a cure for HIV.
