ViiV HEALTHCARE LAUNCHES “THE UNSTOPPABLES” TO CELEBRATE LEADERS ACROSS THE HIV COMMUNITY WHO ARE DRIVING PROGRESS TO END THE EPIDEMIC
- New campaign recognises innovators, advocates and community pioneers across HIV, with the first of The Unstoppables unveiled today
- Hosted by media partner VICE, The Unstoppables share their personal journeys of breaking through barriers and driving life-changing innovation across the global HIV community
London, 12 August 2026 – ViiV Healthcare, the global specialist HIV company majority owned by GSK, with Shionogi as a shareholder, today launched The Unstoppables, a new campaign created in partnership with VICE that spotlights the pioneers advancing society towards a future free from HIV. The campaign recognises innovation in all its forms; the scientists, advocates, community leaders and educators whose work is transforming HIV prevention, treatment and care for all people affected by HIV.
Built around the knowledge that ending the HIV epidemic requires dedication and collaboration across the community, the campaign spotlights just some of the voices, representative of the many contributions that together are breaking down barriers and driving progress. From next generation scientific breakthroughs to grassroots activism and innovative approaches to education, The Unstoppables celebrates some of the people at the forefront of progress in HIV.
Professor Linda-Gail Bekker, Director of the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre at the University of Cape Town and former President of the International AIDS Society, commented: "Moving the needle in the HIV response has always taken a village, but the battle is far from over. We need new pioneers to continue to pass the baton, as it’s vital we maintain our momentum. Campaigns like The Unstoppables are incredibly important to not only recognise the incredible work but also inspire and encourage the next generation of researchers, advocates, and activists. I believe in Ubuntu—the idea that we must look out for one another. If we can fuel the fire in the bellies of young leaders today to keep up the pressure, we will ultimately succeed."
Today, ViiV Healthcare celebrates the work of the first Unstoppable in the series, Marty St. Clair. Marty St. Clair is a pioneering scientist who has helped shape major advances in HIV treatment, her work playing an important role in expanding what is possible for people living with HIV from the discovery of the first antiretroviral treatment (ART) through to innovative long-acting options.
The Unstoppables featured in the campaign embody the passion, diversity and relentless drive at the heart of the HIV response. Watch the campaign video and discover the first stories from The Unstoppables here: https://www.vice.com/theunstoppables.
“The HIV response has always been defined by the courage to challenge convention, the persistence to overcome barriers and the innovation to transform lives - principles that drive what we do at ViiV,” said Audrey Abernathy, Head of Communications, Patient Engagement and Government Affairs, ViiV Healthcare. “We’re proud to launch The Unstoppables with VICE to recognise some of the extraordinary people across the HIV community whose work has had, and continues to have, a significant impact on our shared ambition to end the HIV epidemic.”
Adam Stimpson, Global VP, Commercial at VICE added: “This is exactly what we're here for — putting a spotlight on the people at the frontline of the HIV response who are doing work that deserves to be seen. The HIV epidemic is one of the most pressing global health priorities of our time, and we're proud to use this platform to tell these stories.”
