MINISTRY OF HEALTH IN BRAZIL TO RECOMMEND THE INCLUSION OF CABOTEGRAVIR LONG-ACTING FOR PREP INTO PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEM
Today, during a press conference at the 26th International AIDS Conference, in Rio de Janeiro, Alexandre Padilha, Minister of Health of Brazil, has announced that he will recommend the inclusion of cabotegravir long-acting for PrEP into the public health system (SUS) ahead of review by the National Committee of Introduction of New Technologies (CONITEC).
If included in the Brazilian public health system (SUS), cabotegravir long-acting for HIV prevention will mark further progress in offering new PrEP options in Brazil and the strengthening of the country’s HIV response.
Cabotegravir long-acting for PrEP will offer people an alternative for HIV prevention, especially for those who might not be able to use daily oral PrEP.
