Our commitment to solutions continues: HIV and COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund grantees selected
As the COVID-19 pandemic continued to impact the lives of people around the world, ViiV Healthcare took action and launched the £3million HIV and COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund on Tuesday, 27 April to support research into the impact of COVID-19 on people living with HIV and fill gaps in prevention, treatment and care brought on by the pandemic.
During the three-week application window, we received over 400 proposals for funding with eligible entries coming from Africa, Asia, Europe, South America and the US. This was a truly overwhelming response, reinforcing the need for these critical financial resources at a at a time when COVID-19 threatens to erode a more than a decade’s progress in AIDS-related mortality1 and represents ViiV Healthcare’s ongoing commitment to ending the HIV and AIDS epidemic.
Today we are pleased to announce that ViiV Healthcare will be awarding 109 grants across both the Research Emergency Response Fund and Community Emergency Response Fund. Grantees from 26 countries will address specific challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic, including disruption to care services and the impact of co-morbidities on people living with and affected by HIV.
