Community involvement

Find out how ViiV Healthcare is supporting communities in Canada affected by HIV/AIDS.

Focusing exclusively on HIV/AIDS, ViiV Healthcare is devoted to the research, development and production of HIV medicines. However, another important aspect of our mission is to support HIV/AIDS communities.

We support the Canadian HIV community through three programs:

Community Education and Services Grants

Our Community Education and Services Grants support HIV community-based programming delivered in Canada through HIV community organizations. For example, we have provided funding for HIV treatment education programs; HIV prevention and awareness campaigns; direct services for people living with /content/dam/cf-viiv/viiv-healthcare/en_CA/VHCanada-RFP-CESG-2021-FINAL-EN-APPROVED.pdfHIV/AIDS (PHAs); advocacy and communications outreach; workshops and conferences; organization core operations. Positive Action Canada HIV/AIDS Innovation Program

The Positive Action Canada HIV/AIDS Innovation Program (PACIP) promotes enhancements in community-based programming that will improve outcomes for PHAs in Canada and increase knowledge transfer and exchange of best practices amongst organizations working in the Canadian HIV sector. An initiative of ViiV Healthcare Canada, PACIP has granted a total of $2,301,190 in funding to 222 projects over the past 21 years. To see a detailed list of our annual Positive Action Canada HIV/AIDS Innovation Program grants, click on the year below:

Positive Action Canada Indigenous HIV/AIDS Initiative[1]

The Positive Action Canada Indigenous HIV/AIDS Initiative is a collaborative, population-focused program to enhance HIV care, treatment, support and prevention services for Indigenous people in Canada living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. In line with ViiV Healthcare’s global focus on under-served HIV+ populations, this multi-year program supports the community-based response to the epidemic.

The 2017 Positive Action Canada Indigenous HIV/AIDS Initiative Fifth Call for Proposals is focused on HIV prevention education for Indigenous men, women, and youth in Canada; an emphasis targeting Indigenous youth is encouraged. To learn more about the 2017 Program, click here.

An initiative of ViiV Healthcare Canada, the Positive Action Canada Indigenous HIV/AIDS Initiative has granted a total of $366,049 in funding to 14 projects over the past 4 years.
