Find out how ViiV Healthcare supports communities affected by HIV/AIDS around the world
ViiV Healthcare recognizes the enormous impact of supporting the community response to HIV/AIDS. We are committed not only to improving access to treatment, but also to supporting those communities most affected by the disease.
For people living with HIV or those at risk for HIV infection, the community plays a crucial role: delivering education and prevention campaigns, providing holistic support services, advocating for enhanced access to care and treatment, campaigning for the rights of people living with HIV (PHAs), and confronting stigma, discrimination and the abuse of human rights.
Community is local
We believe that community engagement is built on long term partnerships that share resources and expertise. ViiV Healthcare Canada has a history of commitment, partnering with the Canadian HIV community through our Positive Action program to support and enhance community-driven initiatives that improve the lives of PHAs in Canada. Our Positive Action program helps HIV community organizations in Canada develop and implement programming, raise funds and resources for the local response to the epidemic, optimize the health and well-being of PHAs, and enhance HIV community services for Aboriginal people in Canada.

Community is global
ViiV Healthcare Canada is part of the international ViiV Healthcare group of companies. GlaxoSmithKline, one of the founding companies of ViiV Healthcare, established the Positive Action program in 1992 – an early recognition of the pivotal role played by communities. Today, ViiV Healthcare continues to support communities around the world through an enriched Positive Action program: its heritage Community Grants global program for vulnerable groups; the new Positive Action for Children Fund, which is focused on prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (PMTCT) services across the globe; and Community Grants from local operating companies such as ViiV Healthcare Canada.
