ViiV Healthcare’s message in relation to COVID-19 outbreak
ViiV Healthcare’s mission is to leave no person living with HIV behind and in these uncertain times we remain absolutely committed to ensuring that we deliver on it.
As the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation continues to evolve rapidly, we want to reassure everyone that the safety and well-being of people living with HIV, our customers, partners, and employees remain ViiV Healthcare’s top priority.
People living with HIV are naturally concerned about their ability to obtain their medication. Our ViiV Healthcare manufacturing and supply teams are working hard to ensure we maintain a reliable supply of all ViiV Healthcare medicines.
Our Community Relations teams, locally and globally, are working closely with community-based partners to understand the implications of the current situation for PWHIV and continue to support them in the HIV response. In Australia this currently means;
Our compassionate access scheme can provide short term access to ViiV Healthcare’s medicines to PWHIV without Medicare access – for example PWHIV who are unable to return to their country of origin due to travel restrictions and have no other access to HIV medicines.
We are working with our community partners to identify solutions for PWHIV who are unable to afford the co-payment where this applies (currently no co-payment exists in Northern Territory or New South Wales). Our community partners are providing flexibility in their emergency financial assistance schemes to address this emerging issue for PWHIV. PWHIV can contact NAPWHA on 1800 259 666 for advice on how best to access financial assistance.
In addition, we are doing all that we can to contribute our expertise to the fight against COVID-19 globally. As an infectious disease company, we have doctors and clinicians who are dedicated to supporting and treating people living with HIV. We are enabling colleagues with bespoke expertise to volunteer to support the frontline response. We continue to provide significant funding in the form of grants and donations.
As the situation changes, we will continue to make our medicines available to all who need them, do what we can to limit the spread of the disease and safeguard the health and wellbeing of our employees, customers and partners.
