WORLD AIDS DAY
1st December marks World AIDS Day, a moment each year when the world comes together to celebrate and support people living with HIV today, and at the same time remembering those who are no longer with us following AIDS-related illness. Founded in 1988 as the first ever global health day, World AIDS Day is an opportunity for us to unite efforts in the HIV response and reflect on both the journey so far and what lies ahead.
As the world emerges from the grip of another – albeit different – global pandemic, it is more important than ever that we continue to tackle HIV with the effort and priority it deserves. Our mission at ViiV Healthcare is to make sure no person living with HIV is left behind, and this message rings especially true on World AIDS Day.
This year's UNAIDS theme for World AIDS Day is ‘Equalize’ and we are using this milestone to amplify key issues that hinder the HIV response such as stigma and discrimination to draw attention to matters of increasing importance such talking about HIV in a person-centred way. We are also taking this moment as 2022 draws to a close, to celebrate the inspiring and empowering stories that we have been privileged to hear throughout the year.
